Check out the new diggs

In the continued effort for Kite the Hero to become more interactive, check out the new digg links on the right side of this blog. Monitor the links to find out Kite the Hero’s latest obsession…

Right now it’s the launch of the Large Hadron Collider. Though everyone seems very happy that the world has not yet ended, those that have been following the collider for a while know that the real experiments that may end the world (or produce man-eating dragons) won’t happen for months.

End of Summer Reading

As the beginning of Autumn rapidly approaches, Kite the Hero thought it would be a good idea to crack open the “best summer reading ever” again and start rereading some P.G. Wodehouse. The old standby is of course anything featuring Jeeves and Wooster, but Kite the Hero thinks it’s time to branch out into some other works (the Blandings books will be next on the list). Anyway there’s nothing like the breezy writing style of Wodehouse to bring anyone out of a late summer funk.

Name Me!

No, Kite the Hero doesn’t need a new name, but this little guy does.

He was very recently adopted by Kite the Hero’s parentals. At the shelter he was named Nacho, but he’s in desperate need of something more dignified for his 42 or so dog years. So what do you think?

Back from Vacation

And only slightly itchy (more on that in a bit). Let’s see things learned while on vacation…
1. While Kite the Hero is certain Miami Beach is a very nice place to visit it’s probably a lot nicer when it’s not summer and approximately 200 degrees in the sun. Also Kite the Hero’s wardrobe does not contain enough skin tight clothing to be considered fashionable in South Beach.

2. In Florida Tropical Storms are treated by the media much like snowstorms are in the Northeast, but after the build up to “We’re all going to die” the storm itself seems pretty lame. Though I suppose Fay did cause hours of boredom.

3. Kite the Hero’s brother also has a superpower, the ability to sense cats and cat owners from long distances. A couple of sneezes and watery eyes and even sitting in an outdoor restaurant he pronounces, “There’s someone that has a cat here.”

4. Alligators are cool, mosquitoes are not. The Everglades has a lot of both, and apparently one of Kite the Hero’s superpowers is not being impervious to mosquitoes.

Vacation…Hurricane?

Well it figures, the first time Kite the Hero has been away for a while and now we might just have a hurricane. Fantastic. Worse still, it’s named Fay, who can take that seriously?

Kite the Hero is on vacation

Okay, so Kite the Hero has only made it to the airport, but every journey begins with…a car service car with terrible shocks.

Anyway, headed to Miami for a long weekend with Kite the Hero’s brother.

In honor of the Olympics

Kite the Hero has long considered mocking NBC Olympic coverage to be the highlight of any Olympics. (So many athletes, so much adversity, perseverance…) It appears Slate.com agrees.

A party might be in order

Cern’s Large Hadron Collider is launching September 10th. Can the secrets and/or end of the the universe be far behind. Either way seems like a good reason for a drink. What is the appropriate cocktail to celebrate a supercollider?

So now what?

Now that the birthday countdown and the actual birthday are over for another year, Kite the Hero is left with the summer blahs. Yes, summer is suppose to be about getting outside and doing stuff, but Kite the Hero dislikes the heat and humidity which means more staying in and watching stuff (yes, pretty much like the rest of the year). Which brings us to the Kite the Hero’s latest greatest toy, the Roku/Netflix Instant Viewing Box. True most of the things available for Instant Viewing range from crappy to craptacular, but I dare any of you to watch The Natural History of the Chicken and not be moved (it makes excellent Thanksgiving entertainment by the way).

Oh and on a birthday note, Kite the Hero is very, very disappointed in all of you, sure the gifts were nice but where’s the pony or sailboat? You do realize that by next year another extravagant item will be added to the list and there will be no catching up. Obviously Kite the Hero needs a better class of blog readers.

The day is here!!

Yes, that day you’ve all been waiting for, the day that will free you from birthday reminders, Kite the Hero’s Birthday. Promises to be an exciting work-free day.
